God Bless America ケイト・スミス (Kate Smith)

この曲は第二のアメリカ合衆国国歌として広く認知され，ホッケーやNFL（フットボール），MLB（メジャーリーグ）などの開幕など様々な場面で歌われています。現在の国歌である「星条旗よ永遠なれ（The Star Spangled Banner）」よりもこちらを国歌にするべきではと考える人も少なくないようです。
この曲のことは知っていたのですが，今まではわざわざ聞いてみようという気になりませんでした。その理由を自分では，この曲のGod Bless Americaの箇所が愛国的に過ぎるためだと思っていたのですが，歌詞をよく見てそうではないことがわかりました。不可知論者の自分にとって，あまりにキリスト教的な内容だったせいでした。
This song is regarded as the secondary national anthem of the United States of America.  It's sung at many occasions such as the opening of NFL (The National Football League), MLB (Major Baseball League)  and NHL (The National Hocky League) games.  Many people think it should be the national anthem over The Star Spangled Banner.
I knew of this song but have never bothered to listen to it.  I thought it's because the song sounded too patriotic to me.  This time looking closely at the lyrics, however, I found it's not true.  It sounds too Christian for an agnostic like me, though.
