Weekndとのコラボ作品である Love Me Harderの時とは異なり，Ariana Grandeはこの曲で「（表向き）サンタクロースの存在を信じているかわいくて無邪気な女性」という元の芸風に戻っているようです。

歌詞の冒頭で，主人公はサンタクロースに対して，ある男性が本気なのかどうか尋ねた上で，年が明けたらすぐ別れるような相手なら最初から好きになりたくないと頼んでいます。ただここで言っておきますが，矢を放って人間に恋をさせるのはキューピッドであって，サンタクロースではありませんから。

In the opening of the lyrics, the protagonist asks St Nick if a guy really cares for her.  She asks him not to make her fall in love if  the guy will not be with her next year.  Note that it's not St. Nick but Cupid who makes people fall in love with his arrow.

（余談）

Love Me Harderを聴いた時には「Ariana・・・打って出たな」と思ったのですが，やはりこの路線も捨て切れなかったわけですね。個人的にはこちらの方が彼女には合っているような気がしますが，本人としては不満なのかもしれません。
