They say this was a protest song and written against the Vietnam War which officially ended in 1975. Someone who made a comment on it said, "This song means that poor people had to go to the war in Vietnam and the rich people didn't." That reminds me of Linkin Park's Hands Held High

* 歌詞に登場する「It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son」ですが，実は最初は「この俺には上院議員のオヤジはいない」と訳していました。この曲の発表された60年代には，おそらく上院議員といえば男性だったと考えられるので，ある意味それも正しいのですが，現在では事情が違います。あのHilary Clinton前国務長官は，上院議員で「母親」なので，ここでは「オヤジ」の代わりに「親」という性別を意識させない訳語を当てました。
（余談）
クリーデンス・クリアウォーター・「リバイバル」というからには，クリーデンス・クリアウォーターというバンドがあったのかというとどうやらそうでもなさそうです。Wikipediaによると，デヴュー時にレイベルから与えられた the Golliwogsという名前が気に入らず，それを捨てて再出発という意味で付けた名前のようです。
ただ仮にクリーデンス・クリアウォーターという元のバンドが存在した場合，バンドが解散したりすると往々にしてその名称を巡って裁判沙汰に発展してしまい，挙句に「本家クリーデンス・クリアウォーター」「元祖クリーデンス・クリアウォーター」「初代クリーデンス・クリアウォーター」「クリーデンス・クリアウォーター・オリジナル」などが乱立する危険性もあります。
また，CCRのロゴを巡っても民事裁判となり，セールの時などに「この店のCCRは，本家のCCRとは全く関係がありません」などという中傷ビラが元祖や初代の店先に貼られそうです。
